What to Expect on Set

On a directed shoot, the operator's job is to execute the brief without adding friction. Here's how that works in practice.

01

Takes direction cleanly

On directed shoots, my job is to execute the brief, not contribute to it uninvited. I read shot lists in pre-production, arrive knowing the brief, and make the necessary decisions without needing constant input.

02

Lighting knowledge on set

The full Aperture lighting package comes on every shoot. I work to the gaffer's direction or, where there's no gaffer, set and adjust light to match the director's visual reference.

03

Organised rushes for post

Clean metadata, organised folder structure, delivered promptly. No chasing, no resends. A post team that receives well-organised rushes works faster and produces better output.

04

Drone as second string

For shoots also needing aerial, all four drone systems are available. I can operate ground camera and drone within the same day — no second operator for straightforward aerial.

Camera Work

Commercial, brand, and agency work across the UK — directed productions and single-operator briefs.

Camera Operator Questions

Common questions about booking a camera operator and how the package works.

Do you work as camera operator under a director?

Yes. For agency and production company briefs I work as camera operator — executing the brief, managing camera and light, delivering clean rushes. Creative decisions are the director's.

What camera package do you bring?

URSA 12K as primary, BMPCC 6K as second, Sony A7 IV for stills or flexible video. Full cinema prime glass. Full Aperture lighting. All included in the day rate.

Are you available for multi-day shoots?

Yes. Multi-day rates available for longer productions. Get in touch with the shoot schedule and I'll come back with availability and rate.

Can you work alongside a separate lighting team?

Yes. I'm comfortable in a larger crew structure — taking lighting direction from a gaffer, feeding into an existing post workflow, working alongside a focus puller or sound recordist.
